چکیده

Abstract: This paper presents the methodology and procedure for flood risk assessment using GIS and flood inundation model (FIM) based on the “micro-zonation concept” in which an entire floodplain considered is divided into numerous unit areas (meshes or grids). In this study, Shinkawa-river floodplain around Nagoya City of Aichi Prefecture in Japan an urbanized lowland area, which was greatly damaged by heavy rainfall on September 11 to 12, 2000 is chosen as the study area.

Calibration of River Hydraulic Model Combined with GIS Analysis using Ground-Based Observation Data

In this research a method to calibrate a river hydraulic model (HEC-RAS) using ground-based measurements of an observed flash flood is presented. Applications of the ground truth measurement of flood water depths and flooded areas within a reach of Neka River in Northern of Iran are discussed. The model is calibrated using the Manning's roughness coefficient based on 200-year flood event that t...

Simulation of Flood Inundation of Guiyang City Using Remote Sensing, Gis and Hydrologic Model

This paper illustrates an example of developing a grid-based distributed hydrologic model for storm-inundation simulation using GIS and remote sensing for flood emergency planning, and the feasibility of the model was explored in the mountainous urban area of Guiyang city of the Guizhou Province, China. The research was based on four major steps. The first step was to prepare data for the model...

A Distributed Flood Inundation Model Integrating with Rainfall-runoff Processes Using Gis and Remote Sensing Data

Flood hazard is one of the most harmful disasters in the world, and it is significant to obtain information on flood characteristics for disaster mitigation as well as vulnerability assessment. This paper develops a distributed model for simulating flood inundation integrating with rainfall-runoff processes. The model is designed to apply the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) DEM data and...

A web GIS based integrated flood assessment modeling tool for coastal urban watersheds

Urban flooding has become an increasingly important issue in many parts of the world. In this study, an integrated flood assessment model (IFAM) is presented for the coastal urban flood simulation. A web based GIS framework has been adopted to organize the spatial datasets for the study area considered and to run the model within this framework. The integrated flood model consists of a mass bal...
